Wed 12 Oct 2011 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Wellington queer youth support group School's Out has two new part time staff members thanks to financial help from Wellington City Council and the AsiaPacific Outgames Legacy Fund. The group has actively been supporting glbt youth in the capital for over a decade, under the umbrella of Wellington Gay Welfare Group (Gay Wellington), a registered charity. Gay Wellington has announced Kassie Hartendorp has been appointed to the position of Facilitation Coordinator, after a year of volunteering as a facilitator for the organisation. George Mapplebeck has been appointed to the position of Programme Leader, where she will work to grow the School’s Out programme, liaise with school counsellors, principals and other queer youth agencies, run workshops and manage the administration of the group. Mapplebeck has been Gay Wellington co-chair for the last year and has been actively involved with both Gay Wellington and School’s Out as a volunteer. The appointments are for a 12 month period, beginning in mid October 2011. It is the first time two people have been appointed for the roles. The duo was hired from among 11 applicants.
