Italian politicians outed as "hypocrites"

Mon 26 Sep 2011 In: International News View at Wayback

Bloggers have created a storm of controversy by "outing" ten Italian politicians as being secretly gay. "We decided to start with these ten names to show clearly how hypocrisy and discrimination rule in the Italian parliament," the US-based bloggers have written. It has divided gay rights groups, some who say MPs should not be ashamed of being gay and others saying the bloggers have given to no evidence. Italy's parliament recently rejected a bill to protect lgbt people from discrimination, yet the countrybans discrimination on the grounds of race, religion, ethnicity and nationality. Italy also bars gay couples from marrying or adopting children.
