Date set for opening of new Auckland gay bar

Sat 3 Sep 2011 In: New Zealand Daily News

A date has been set for the unveiling of Auckland's newest gay bar, DNA. The venue will open on Friday 23 September, with a VIP opening the night before. DNA has taken over the K' Rd space that was previously occupied by Kamo, and its rebranding comes with a complete gutting of the building and entire refurbishment by Martin Hughes design, which has Hotel de Brett and Lolabar among its creations. The new DNA will have two bars; a main bar with an industrial feel and a lounge with a cosy atmosphere and baby grand piano. There will of course be a dance floor, along with an outdoor space. Entertainment will be a daily staple and DNA will have a line-up of six resident DJs. GayNZ.com will be giving away four double passes to the VIP opening night.
