Fri 29 Jul 2011 In: New Zealand Daily News

The police officer who headed up the high profile 2009 enquiry into the man who became dubbed the 'HIV Predator' is amongst the guest speakers at a national seminar on HIV next month. Detective Sergeant Andy King will speak on the subject of "Criminal HIV Prosecutions." Other scheduled speakers include noted HIV epidemiologist Nigel Dickson of Otago Medical School, senior HIV specialist at Auckland Public Hospital Mark Thomas and the NZ AIDS Foundation's lead researchers Tony Hughes and Peter Saxton who will address "Undiagnosed HIV in New Zealand." The day-long seminar will be held in central Auckland on Friday 26 August and registrations have opened to health professionals, community support groups and people living with HIV. Financial support for the seminar has been provided by HIV medication manufacturing companies and assistance to attend is available for people based outside Auckland.
