A steering group which is doing the base work for the proposed Auckland pride festival is being assisted by the experience of the General Manager of Melbourne festival Midsumma. Adam Lowe addressed the ten volunteers at their first meeting this week and interim group Chair Gresham Bradley says he offered a lot of experience on where Midsumma has gone and where it's going. Lowe is in New Zealand planning the Rugby World Cup opening ceremony. He is also the Regional Director of InterPride and has asked the international body to send models for pride festivals around the world to the Auckland pride steering group to help in its planning. Bradley says the group is very much in the information gathering stage at this point and will meet again on Monday to further discuss the structure going forward. He says it hopes to report back to the community with a proposal in August. "The process is moving ahead quite well," he says.
