Hotel offers discounts after bookings canned

Thu 21 Jul 2011 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Gay Ski Week host hotel Novotel Queenstown Lakeside is offering a special price to people who have lost bookings after the company which runs the event has gone into voluntary liquidation. General Manager Jim Moore says the hotel has not been paid for bookings through Gay Ski Week and currently is not holding rooms on this basis. "These people have been advised by Gay Ski Week that the organiser has gone into voluntary liquidation and are now creditors of the event." Moore says the hotel will offer those impacted a special price in recognition of their loss, "and we will do everything we can to look after them through this time. We regret that the organisers have not been able to make the event happen as this has been a very successful event for the last eight years." The hotel has a number of people who have booked directly for Gay Ski Week. "To our knowledge many are still travelling and will enjoy everything that Queenstown has to offer," Moore says. Novotel Queenstown Lakeside is also working with The Southern Lakes Lesbian and Gay Society to see how it can help: "There are a few people that are stepping up to see if the events can continue and we are meeting them to discuss whether we can assist," Moore adds.
