Fri 15 Jul 2011 In: International News

Two men have been knocked to the ground, then punched, kicked and robbed after returning from a post London Pride night out. The men, aged 25 and 33, were set upon by a gang of between eight and ten men in Spring Gardens in Vauxhall in the early hours of Sunday morning. The younger man has severe facial injuries. He attackers, some of whom were on bicycles, escaped with the men's coats and bags, Pink News reports. Police say there is no evidence to suggest the attack was motivated by homophobia as the gang did not shout anti-gay abuse. However, the area is a popular gay nightspot. Pink News says the Royal Vauxhall Tavern and two other gay venues back on to Spring Gardens and police believe smokers outside the bars may have seen or heard something.
