Heart to play first-ever New Zealand show

Thu 7 Jul 2011 In: New Zealand Daily News

A band which was notoriously hounded by lesbian incest rumours and bit back with rock n' roll venom is to perform in New Zealand. The Ann and Nancy Wilson led band Heart are joining Def Leppard as special guests for a show at Auckland's Vector Arena on 12 October. It will be Heart's first-ever trip to New Zealand. "We are enormously excited to be bringing our show down under," says lead singer Ann Wilson. "This is the fulfilment of a long-time dream." In 1977, Ann and her sister Nancy were famously at the centre of rumours fuelled by their own record company that they were lovers. It sparked Ann to write the biting song Barracuda, which became one of the band's biggest hits. The band has a strong female following and made an appearance on the second season of lesbian drama The L Word in 2005.
