The changes on K' Rd are dizzying After buying Lolabar on Ponsonby Rd, gay bar owner Wayne Clark is expanding once again - but this time it's just next door. Clark is buying the premises of Rock'n'Bull, a K' Road bar which marketed itself as gay-friendly. Rock'n'Bull sits just next door to Clark's gay nightclub Family, and he says he is planning to do some major renovations to expand Family into the extra space and add another couple of service areas. As the rearrangement around K' Rd and Ponsonby Rd venues continues, former Club Se7en drag diva Buckwheat has been hired as the hostess of Clark's Lolabar, which celebrated its grand reopening on Thursday night. Cindy of Samoa's Wednesday night karaoke has been moved down the road to Kamo, which is about to close down for major renovations of its own, along with rebranding. It's planning a closing party for 2 July, which will feature performances from Cindy of Samoa and a bevy of drag divas, including hostess Tess Tickle and Buckwheat. Meanwhile the gay-friendly Eagle Bar is open again, after being temporarily closed due to a convoluted dispute.
