Second 'mardi gras' meeting being held tonight

Mon 30 May 2011 In: New Zealand Daily News

The second community meeting to canvas the idea of holding a pride event in Auckland is being held tonight. There was a strong turn-out and support for the proposal at the first meeting at Kamo on K' Rd two weeks ago, where members of the glbti community spoke about what shape they would like it to take. The second meeting is once again being organised by the Gay Auckland Business Association, which is clear it does not see itself as the core of any ongoing project, just the facilitator of the initial community discussion. Anyone who wants to suggest specific ideas, such as when and where, dates, name ideas, organisational and structural ideas and possible models can email short email suggestions to info@gaba.org.nz and they will be read out at tonight's meeting. The meeting will be held at Kamo, 382 K' Rd, at 5.30pm.
