Boreham drives Wellywood sign protest

Mon 23 May 2011 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Gay Wellingtonian Andy Boreham is spearheading a protest against the issue that has Wellington up in arms - the Wellywood sign that Wellington International Airport is going to erected on the Miramar Peninsula. The event organiser and co-creator of news and gossip site AaronandAndy.com wants to "hit Wellington Airport where it hurts", by holding a slow blockade of cars that will loop around Wellington Airport tonight. Boreham says he wants as many people against the sign as possible, "especially if you own a car", to attend the protest between 6 and 7pm. "We'll be meeting beforehand, and rallying the troops for the slow driving blockade that will loop around Wellington airport for an hour between 6 and 7pm," he says. "This is a last resort considering Wellington Airport are not listening to public concern about the sign". Anyone keen on helping the protest is asked to join the Facebook event here
