Rainbow Labour to flesh out campaign

Fri 20 May 2011 In: New Zealand Daily News

Maryan Street Rainbow Labour's sector council will this weekend put together campaign heading into the November election. Labour is holding its pre-election congress in Wellington and sector councils are meeting on Saturday morning, which is when out MPs Maryan Street, Grant Robertson and Louisa Wall will get together with other Rainbow Labour members. They will be without their colleague Charles Chauvel, who is in Moldova co-chairing a meeting of the UN's Global Commission on HIV and the Law. Street says the Saturday morning meeting will be about about approving a campaign plan and ensuring the organisational framework is in place. She says the group will also hold its incredibly popular fundraising breakfast on Sunday morning. "People get up early again and they head off to a cafe and pay money for the privilege, which is always a good fundraiser for us." It will be an extra busy weekend for Street, who is travelling to South America with Parliament's annual Speaker's tour. "So I think Charles and I might be passing in mid-air, I'm not sure," she says. "Because he's on his way back and I'm on my way out."
