Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All There's a storm brewing across the Tasman over upcoming performances from a large group of rappers with lyrics about murder, rape, kidnapping, arson, torture, necrophilia, misogyny and homophobia. California's 'Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All' are a ten-piece rap and skateboarding collective who are to perform at a Sydney creative showcase at the Opera House, along with sold-out sideshows in Melbourne and Brisbane. Some of the industry's biggest names have called the group 'the future of rap', but Samesame.com.au's Matt Akersten reports, "Odd Future's songs are riddled with anti-gay slurs. Every second insult is ‘faggot'." Among the examples of their viciously homophobic lyrics are “Come take a stab at it faggot, I preordered your casket”. Front man 'Tyler, the Creator' claims he not homophobic, telling NME : "I just think 'faggot' hits and hurts people. It hits. And gay just means you're stupid. I don't know, we don't think about it, we're just kids. We don't think about that shit," the 20-year-old told NME. "But I don't hate gay people. I don't want anyone to think I'm homophobic. [(His friend) Jasper walks into the room] But he's a fucking faggot!” Sara Quin from lesbian indie duo Tegan and Sara is among those to slam the group, writing on the twins' website: "When will misogynistic and homophobic ranting and raving result in meaningful repercussions in the entertainment industry? When will they be treated with the same seriousness as racist and anti-Semitic offenses? While an artist who can barely get a sentence fragment out without using homophobic slurs is celebrated on the cover of every magazine, blog and newspaper, I'm disheartened that any self-respecting human being could stand in support with a message so vile." Tyler respond on Twitter by saying; "If Tegan And Sara Need Some Hard Dick, Hit Me Up!"
