Jax Hamilton finished second in the tough reality cooking show The runner-up for in the second season of Masterchef Jax Hamilton has stated she is in love with a woman in what a woman's rag is headlining as a "shock" revelation. In Woman's Day, the 44-year-old Christchurch mother of two explains how she left her husband in 2009 because her "light had started going out". The relationship of a friend she had known for five years broke down at the same time and the pair eventually realised they had fallen heavily for each other and had no choice but to be together. "It's not a gender specific thing. It's about seeing me, understanding me, loving me and helping me grow as a person," Hamilton explained to Woman's Day. "I've completely fallen in love with her heart and her soul." The British-born Jamaican discusses how she told her two teenage sons and her mother she had met her soul mate, and they were all completely understanding. The keen clarinettist attributes her girlfriend with inspiring her to live out her Masterchef dream, "I liken it to a big clarinet. If I'd been with my husband, I would never have auditioned for Masterchef; he would never have supported me through it. She suggested it." Hamilton came second in the final of the TV One reality cooking show to 25-year-old Nadia Lim.
