Alistair Wilkinson Gay journalist and broadcaster Alistair Wilkinson is making the switch from TV3 to be the News Director of Sky News New Zealand. His new role will see him lead the editorial team as well contributing on air. “The way people get their news is changing fast, and Sky News is at the cutting edge of that change," Wilkinson says. "I'm excited to be joining a team of professionals who are so passionately committed to delivering 24 hour news.” Wilkinson is a two-time Qantas Media Award winner has more than 15-years experience as a reporter, presenter and producer. While at TV3, Wilkinson also spent time with 60 Minutes. The investment in the leading journalist comes as Sky News New Zealand has come along in leaps and bounds in the past year, most notably for its ratings-bolstering coverage of the Pike River mine disaster and the Christchurch earthquakes. Wilkinson, who lives on the outskirts of West Auckland with his partner Russ Flatt, will commence his new role as News Director later this year.
