A facilitator of a Christchurch queer youth group is bursting with pride after leading his troupe in a high-spirited pink walk through a city mall. Around 30 Q-topia members led by "Aunty Pipi" strolled through Riccarton mall last night, handing out balloons, pink lollies and Pink Shirt Day flyers. "We got lots of smiles and definitely turned a few heads," says facilitator Akira La Fevre. "I couldn't have been more proud of our Q-topia kids." Q-topia has been rocked by both the Christchurch quakes, which in turn caused massive damage to their original premises, then their replacement premises. They have since found a home at the Family Planning offices on Moorhouse Ave and are back up and running at full pace. In Dunedin youth group Same Difference strung up a washing line full of pink in the Octagon, highlighting the high bullying rate in New Zealand schools.
