Rainbow Youth is looking for volunteer Executive Advisors who can work alongside its board, to help it refine ideas and turn them into strategies. The Auckland-based not for profit incorporated society and registered charity is governed by a board of ten people who are all aged under 28. It creates resources for schools and supports queer youth across Auckland but is increasingly becoming nationally focused, by strengthening networks with other glbt youth groups. Rainbow Youth says an ideal Executive Advisor will be able to attend board meetings on every third Monday of the month between 6PM to 8.30PM, as well as annual stragetic planning days, a team building day, Rainbow Youth Education Sessions and consult on at least one core organisational committee. There are also other meetings that take place throughout the month or on an ad-hoc/seasonal basis. Anyone applying for the role would need to have at least 15 hours a month to contribute. “We would expect that advisors are available to respond to emails and have some capacity to support the Rainbow Youth governance team if a crisis situation arose,” the Rainbow Youth team says. Anyone interested can email: chairperson@rainbow youth.org.nz for a more detailed description of the role.
