Carmen home at last after hip operation

Carmen Rupe Trans Tasman and ex-Wellington tranny Goddess Carmen Rupe was expected to be back in her home today following an extended hospital stay after she fell and broke a hip. Close friend and staunch supporter Robin Waerea says a "High Morning Tea was organized to welcome home our Queen." After three months in hospital Carmen, who turns 75 this year is still not fully recovered yet, "but she's doing well and is so excited and happy to be going home to her own bed and a lots of catching up to do at home. And she is looking forward to return to her church services on Sundays and catching up with her friends. And most of to all be riding her scooter again, god love her."  Carmen will be receiving transitional care for twelve weeks, through St Vincent's hospital, "which is wonderful Carmen says, they will assist her with the care given by the hospital, but in her own environment." Waerea says Carmen sends her love to those families who had suffered a great loss of loved ones, her blessing and prayers to all those in Christchurch effected by the earthquake.
